Kady McDermott’s Love Island highs and lows from shocking fight to Scott Thomas romance

Seven years after last appearing in the Love island villa, Kady McDermott once again dusted off her bikinis as she returned to the ITV2 dating show this week as a surprise bombshell.

The 27-year-old star first rose to fame on the second series of the show back in 2016, where she quickly found love with fellow contestant Scott Thomas.

However the road to romance was far from easy, as evidenced by Kady’s many ups and downs in the villa, that were largely the result of her fiery and often confrontational personality.

As she prepares to make waves in the villa for a second time, we looked back at her standout moments during her time on the show previously.

Let’s take a look…

Entrance to villa

Kady first entered the villa as a bombshell during week one of the second ever series of Love Island, with every intention of turning more than a few heads with her cheeky personality and stunning good looks.

Almost immediately, Kady chose to set her sights on Scott Thomas with the pair soon coupling-up together. Since this defining moment, for the duration of their time on the show, the couple remained “coupled-up” but that didn’t stop several of the other villa boys from trying to sweep Kady off her feet by selecting her for dates.

Despite their best efforts, Kady’s resolve remained unwavering and despite a few explosive arguments along the way, the couple managed to come third in the competition overall, with the eventual winners Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey taking the crown.

Kady’s explosive rant

During her somewhat chaotic time in the villa, Kady was frequently embroiled in a number of high profile rows that generally revolved around Scott getting close to other girls, in particular Tina Stinnes.

The stunning blonde had entered the villa on day 20 of the competition and immediately struck up a strong rapport with Scott, something which did not go down well with Kady.

In an explosive tirade, Kady launched into a foul mouthed and abusive rant at Tina, screaming obscenities and insults at her, to the point that later when left alone with Tina, Scott felt compelled to apologise for her behaviour.

As a tearful Tina admitted to the other Islanders how unpleasant it had been to be shouted at across the villa, Kady took things one step further and tauntingly waved her bum at her through the frosted glass window.

Shocking villa fight

Tina wasn’t the only Islander that Kady managed to irk either, as she was later caught up in a physical fight with contestant Malia Arkian that ultimately saw Malia ejected from the villa for her behaviour.

Tensions had already been running high in the villa after Kady and Scott had been caught up in a lover’s spat earlier in the evening, but less than 24 hours after stepping into the villa, things took a shocking turn when Malia accused Kady of of intentionally spilling wine on her.

The moment as caught on camera, saw Kady appear to drop her glass and spill wine on Malia who was sat next to her, as the girls sat chatting to each other. Immediately, the star could be heard saying “s**t” as she realised what she’d just done. But rather than shrugging it off as a simple accident, Malia immediately pointed the finger of accusation and asked: “Did you do that on purpose?”

“It literally slipped out of my hand,” Kady explained, before later revealing the wine had only tipped onto her foot and not onto her outfit.

“You don’t do that on the first night! You don’t do that with me!,” fumed Malia, as she demanded Kady come away from the group to discuss things with her.

Clearly incensed by the situation, Kady herself then angrily shot back: “Do you really think I’d waste my wine over you?”

Unwilling to let the matter drop, Malia then escalated things by shoving Kady and screaming that she was a “desperate b***h” at which point, several of the other Islanders and members of security were forced to intervene when things turned physical.

Although the extent of the situation wasn’t broadcast, it was later revealed that Kady had been hit in the face and suffered a bloody nose as a result of the altercation.

Malia was subsequently removed from the villa.

Romantic proposal

Despite all the villa drama, Scott and Kady still famously made it to the final of the show, but ahead of the all important results, Scott decided to ask Kady to be his girlfriend in a poignant and ingenious way, which to this day, still remains an unforgettable moment of Love Island history.

Clearly smitten with the girl he had fallen for, Scott decided to ask Kady the all important question, by spelling out the message in towels, in an elaborate and undeniably adorable proposal to her.

Having poured his heart into the visual spectacle (and roped in his fellow boys to help) Scott was successfully able to ask Kady “Be my GF?” To which the delighted star quickly said yes!

Following their villa exit, the couple happily dated for just over a year before amicably parting ways.

Return to the villa

Seven years on since finding love in the villa, Love Island announced that Kady would once again be returning to Mallorca to try her hand at romance for a second time – something which soon sent her fans into a frenzy.

Less than 24 hours after her arrival, Kady was asked to steal one of the boys in the villa, a decision which saw her ultimately choose to couple up with Zachariah Noble.

As a result of the switch, Molly Marsh was immediately dumped from the villa, as she had been in a couple with Zach and left single as a result of the choice.

Immediately after the news aired, fans were heartbroken to see the back of Molly, but not everyone is convinced this will be the last we’ve seen of her, with several fans predicting she may return in the coming days to take on Kady and reclaim her man.

Love Island continues Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
