Keanu joins forces with DCI Keeble in huge EastEnders twist to destroy Phil
Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) made his presence felt in EastEnders as he returned with a bang, refusing to let former love rival Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) dictate his life any longer.
The mechanic, as viewers know, was forced to leave the Square against his will almost three years ago, after Phil discovered he’d been sleeping with Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), who had fallen pregnant with his baby.
Ben (Max Bowden) vowed to take care of Keanu, ordering his then accomplice Martin Fowler (James Bye) to kill him. Martin, however, assisted Keanu in faking his own death.
Their plan worked for a time, until Phil found out that Keanu was alive, and war was waged, which culminated in a fight between the two onboard the party boat on the Thames, where Dennis Rickman (Bleu Landau) ultimately lost his life.
In the aftermath of the incident, Keanu did as he was told and left the Square, never to be seen again. But three years on, he’s come home – and this time, he’s refusing to be pushed around by the Mitchells.
Karen (Lorraine Stanley) and Bernie (Clair Norris) were overwhelmed to set their sights upon him during Thursday’s (December 15) edition of the BBC One soap, and the trio made up for lost time as they embraced.
Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) was taken aback by his presence, given her role in assisting him fake his own death, but it was Ben who was truly irate, reminding him how he kidnapped Callum Highway (Tony Clay) – citing this as the reason why he cannot forgive him.
Keanu subsequently enjoyed a drink with his nearest and dearest, and upon exiting the Vic, he came face-to-face with two-year-old son Albie – and Sharon!
Sharon was flabbergasted to see her ex-lover, and warned him off coming near her or Albie ever again, evidently not knowing what to make of the whole situation.
Karen, meanwhile, reiterated her concerns about his comeback, fearing that Phil would find out about his presence on the Square and thus exact revenge.
Keanu, however, remained steadfast in his position: he’s not going anywhere!
But what about Phil? Well, subsequent scenes revealed that he has, in fact, got a plan to get Phil out of his life once and for all, as he met with DCI Keeble (Alison Newman) in secret.
Talk about a plot twist.
‘I hear you’re looking to destroy Phil Mitchell’, he said, before adding: ‘I want in’.
Keeble, as fans know, is on a mission to crush Phil and his family for their role in a historic warehouse robbery in the 70s which claimed the life of her father Malcolm.
We know how desperate she is to get what she wants, but will she accept Keanu’s offer? What’s more, will Keanu succeed in getting Phil out of the picture – and his life back in the process?
He’s certainly playing with fire, but this isn’t his first rodeo where Phil is concerned, so it’s safe to say he knows exactly what he’s doing.
EastEnders continues Friday December 16 at 7:30pm on BBC One.
