Kristin Davis on the reported drama between Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall

Unless you’ve been living under a pop culture rock, you’ll know that there’s been drama between Sex and the City costars, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall for literal years.

Rumours of the alleged feud go way back to the early SATC days, where one of the major apparent issues was to do with salary.

In spite of this, the show’s main stars, SJP, Kim, and of course, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon went on to film six seasons and two films, all apparently while the drama was still going on.

Unfortunately for fans though, Kim – who plays the iconic character Samantha Jones – opted out of the third film, plus the Sex and the City reboot series, And Just Like That. Despite not wanting to reprise her role, Kim later revealed that she wasn’t actually asked to come back.

However, as many fans will know, the end of the first series of AJLT saw SJP’s character, Carrie Bradshaw exchange texts with Samantha, which left scope for a potential cameo for future episodes.

While viewers thought this was a long shot due to Kim being so vocal about not wanting to bring Samantha back (not to mention the drama), they were left stunned when it was announced that she would be making a brief appearance in series two.

Of course, fans later learned that Kim actually filmed the scenes remotely without meeting with any of the cast members, and was dressed by Patricia Field, SATC’s OG costume designer who also didn’t return for AJLT.

But while Kim and Sarah’s co-stars have long stayed out of the drama, Kristin Davis, who plays Charlotte York, has actually broken her silence on the matter following the cameo announcement.

Speaking to the Telegraph, the 58 year old was asked if she or any of the other cast – aside from Sarah – have any contact with Kim.

"You have to respect people’s wishes," she revealed.

"I’m not gonna waste energy on it."

In terms of the fans, she did admit that she wishes she could change things for them, but unfortunately, it’s not her place.

“I do understand fans’ feelings – that they’re upset. I wish I could fix it, but I can’t. It’s not in my power," she finished.

Well, for hardcore Sex and the City fans, it looks as though things aren’t set to change any time soon.

Season two of And Just Like That will drop on the 22nd June.
