Kym Marsh supported by Strictly co-stars as she opens up after fans demand axe

Strictly Come Dancing star Kym Marsh broke her silence with a birthday post dedicated to her daughter after it was announced that she'd be advancing to the semi finals.

Kym posted a series of pictures of her daughter who had just turned 25, along with a lengthy caption.

In the note, she mentioned her pro dance partner Graziano Di Prima, writing: "I won’t ever forget the love and constant support you have given to me, particularly these last few months … calling into rehearsals late at night with treats to cheer me up cos you know I’m tired, or cooking endless meals for me and @grazianodiprima and making him welcome in your home and your life."

Friends, family and her Strictly co-stars took to the comments to send birthday wishes and support to Kym, who's off sick with Covid.

"Happy birthday @emilieecunliffe.x", wrote Graziano.

Jane Danson, who plays Leanne in Coronation Street added: "Happy birthday love. 25!!!!!!! Goes so quick!"

For this weekend's instalment of Strictly, Kym was forced to withdraw after she tested positive for Covid. Kym last danced the Paso Doble at Blackpool last week with Graziano.

Graziano told his Instagram followers that he and Kym are due to return to the show "stronger than ever" while a Strictly spokesperson confirmed the news.

"Kym Marsh has tested positive for Covid-19," the spokesperson revealed. "As a result, Kym and Graziano will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend. Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, they will return the following week."

Kym had kept a low profile as fans shared their outrage at her advancement in the show.

"Kym Marsh shouldn't be allowed back" one tweeted.

Another fan questioned the BBC bosses, writing: "Nobody should go this week. It's unfair that Kym Marsh gets a free pass to next week. What if she tests positive again next week???"

A third shared their concern over Kym's situation whilst it's so late in the competition. They wrote: "I know Kym Marsh can’t help being ill, but at this stage in the competition, I don’t think it’s fair that she gets a pass through to next week".
