LBC viewers in tears as Caroline Flack’s mum slams Jeremy Clarkson

Caroline Flack’s mum Christine Flack called into Shelagh Fogarty’s LBC show on Monday lunchtime to voice her opinion on Jeremy Clarkson’s column surrounding Meghan Markle. Jeremy wrote a column about hating Meghan Markle on a “cellular level”.

Voicing her opinion on the column, she expressed: “They don’t learn, do they, Shelagh? All the terrible things that are happening in the world.

“People are going to be so hard up this Christmas and they’re still worried about writing something awful about Meghan. I don’t get it.”

Shelagh added: “To take time out of your day to write what Clarkson wrote within days of her telling the world how appalling the impact is so many shades of cruel.

“It’s brutal. It reveals him to be either a brutal man or a brutalised man, who doesn’t know what to do with how he feels about her.

“To be that full of rage about someone you don’t even know is plain odd.”

Christine asked: “Why write something so bad? We thought when Carrie died this thing about being kind, it isn’t a joke, it is a real thing.

“If you’re going to write something about someone, let it be nice, otherwise, just leave it alone and have your own opinions in private.”

Christine’s comments resonated with many LBC listeners who took to their Twitter accounts to applaud her comments, and some even admitted to shedding a tear.

Anna wrote: “Christine Flack, Caroline Flack’s mum ringing to @LBC there in support of Meghan Markle has me in tears.

“A reminder for people like Jeremy Clarkson that your words online and in print have real-life consequences.”

Charlie tweeted: “@LBC @ShelaghFogerty listening to Caroline Flack’s mum has reduced me to tears. Tabloids need to listen and remember.” (sic)

In Jeremy’s latest column, he said that he felt “sorry” for Prince Harry, who he dubbed a “glove puppet” who was being controlled by his wife.

He then said: “Meghan, though, is a different story. I hate her. Not like I hate Nicola Sturgeon or Rose West. I hate her on a cellular level.

“At night, I’m unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her.

“But what makes me despair is that younger people, especially girls, think she’s pretty cool.

“They think she was a prisoner of Buckingham Palace, forced to talk about nothing but embroidery and kittens.”

Shelagh Fogerty airs from 1pm on LBC.
