Loose Women sparks fury for ghoulish speculation about Nicola Bulley update

Viewers of Loose Women today (Monday 20 February) have slammed the panel for discussing and "speculating" over the latest news of missing mother Nicola Bulley.

Yesterday the update from Lancashire Police detailed a body had been found, but a confirmation its Nicola has not been released.

As the panel including Ruth Langsford, Coleen Nolan, Janet Street-Porter and Kelle Bryan discussed the latest update, ITV viewers raged on social media over further "speculation" in the missing persons case.

One viewer tweeted: "It’s so ghoulish to keep discussing the Nicola Bulley case while the family are awaiting formal identification of the body. Just leave it be for their sake."

Another wrote: "Stop bloody speculating!!"

"You are unbelievable! Whining about people speculating about Nicola while speculating about Nicola, just like those muppets on This Morning," said a third.

One was grateful that regular Loose Women panelist Denise Welch was missing as they tweeted: "Thank goodness Denise Welch isn’t on the panel to voice her opinion on the latest development in the Nicola Bulley disappearance."

Another argued that interest in the case is due to how unusual it's been, as they shared: "I think people have turned armchair detective about Nicola Bulley because it’s such a strange case and hasn’t been handled well."

The debate comes after discussions about the Nicola Bulley case angered viewers last week, as remarks were called out as "disgraceful."

Last week Lancashire Police announced that the mum-of-two had been considered a high-risk missing person from the beginning of the investigation. They then leaked further details about Nicola's private life, as they released a further statement, which read: "Nicola had in the past suffered with some significant issues with alcohol which were brought on by her ongoing struggles with the menopause and that these struggles had resurfaced over recent months."

"This caused some real challenges for Paul and the family" the statement concluded, referencing Nicola's partner Paul Ansell.

Last week Denise Welch slammed the speculation from the public as she told her fellow Loose Women panellists: "This is the problem, we’ve created globally all of these armchair detectives.

"And I am partly responsible because I’ve made no bones of the fact that in my mind I’m the 'Crime Minister'

"You know I’m obsessed with true life crime. When I was young and you had the news at 6pm and a couple of newspapers, all of these things went on and you didn’t know very much about it," she added.

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 12.30pm
