Loot season two just
Apple TV releases official trailer for Loot
The writers’ strike has put the brakes on the second season of popular Apple TV+ comedy Loot with one of its stars saying he just had “five days left” to shoot before production was prematurely halted.
Maya Rudolph stars as billionaire divorcée Molly Novak, who receives an immense settlement when she discovers her husband’s affair, and was released on the streaming service a year ago.
Just a month later it was renewed for another series but the strike put paid to that for now right towards the end of filming.
Joel Kim Booster, who could be up for Emmy awards for both Loot and his smash-hit rom-com Fire Island, returns as Molly’s assistant Nicholas.
“I, personally, have five days left on season two,” he revealed to The Daily Express US, “that I will return to once the strike is over. We’re very, very close to the end.”
Before the strike began, the rest of Loot’s cast – which includes Ron Funches and Michaela Jaé Rodriguez – didn’t have much longer before their time on set was complete.
“I think there’s maybe eight days of shooting in total left,” Booster said. “Up until we shut down it was a really lovely experience. We’re back and it feels like a well-oiled machine now.
“We all understand our characters in a really specific way, and we understand a lot of the relationships between the characters.
“In season two you’re starting to see different combinations of characters that didn’t necessarily have stories together in season one.
“That’s a lot of fun for us; obviously, the Howard (Funches)-Nicholas relationship was really well-established in season one.
“There’s still a lot of [that], but we’re starting to see them branch out. The pairings are a little more unique and you’re seeing how different characters exist in the world together.”

Last year, Rudolph’s infamous Hot Ones scene went viral on Twitter during the release of the first season. Booster promises the follow-up will have plenty of moments that will one-up Rudolph’s foul-mouthed and beer-chugging interview with Sean Evans.
“We definitely kick it up a notch in season two,” he teased. “We establish a lot of who these characters are and their baseline in season one. Now, in season two, it’s like how far can we push it?
“How far can we let these characters go and fly? It’s really fun. It’s a little bit more heightened in season two, so you’ll see a lot more scenes like the Hot Ones interview.”
