Lorraine announces TV break and is replaced by co-star in ITV switch-up

Lorraine viewers can expect a major shake-up next week as host Lorraine Kelly announces she is taking a break.

As a result, the 63-year-old has passed the baton to a fellow breakfast TV star to present her much-loved ITV show.

The shakeup was revealed on today’s episode of Good Morning Britain (December 16).

And it turns out GMB’s very own Ranvir Singh will be sitting on the sofa for Lorraine next week.

Ranvir appeared on Good Morning Britain alongside Ed Balls, who said to her: “You are being Lorraine next week.”

The former Strictly star replied: “Nobody can be Lorraine other than Lorraine.”

“I am keeping her seat warm next week,” she added.

It won’t be the first time Ranvir will have stepped in for Lorraine, as she often covers her during half terms.

The news of Lorraine’s break comes as earlier this week, she revealed that she overslept and was nearly late to host her show – the first time in her career.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday to share her unfortunate news, Lorraine wrote: "So after getting up early, I've managed for the FIRST time to sleep in – YIKES!!!!

It comes hours after Lorraine had posted a photo to reveal that she had woken up at 2am – hours before she needed to be awake – and went back to sleep.

She had posted a photo of the time, with her alarm set in the corner at 5:35am, as she wrote: "So this is a first. Woke up – convinced I'd slept in – super fast shower – threw on clothes and then looked at the time properly…"

Lorraine spent some time on Twitter and was responding to various tweets and chatting to her followers, but she clearly managed to get back to sleep after posting her final tweet at 2:14am.
