Following the release of their Netflix series, there’s been much speculation as to whether or not Harry and Meghan will rejoin the Royal Family for the coronation of King Charles. Speaking on her ITV chat show, Lorraine Kelly said it would be wrong if the couple were not in attendance but Prince Andrew was.
Speaking to Russell Myers, she stated: “Should they or shouldn’t they attend the coronation?
“A lot of people saying they shouldn’t but come on, if Prince Andrew is gonna be there.
“If dodgy heads of state, and you know how dodgy they are, if they’re gonna be there at the coronation – of course, they should be there. Surely?”
“It will be an interesting one to see if they do turn up,” royal correspondent Russell replied.
“They should definitely get invited,” Lorraine responded.
Russell confirmed: “Without a doubt they will be invited. They’ve been invited for Christmas but I’ve been told they won’t be over here celebrating with the rest of the family at Sandringham.
“However, one would expect they would be invited. However, we still do have Harry’s book and we haven’t had any bombshells in the Netflix documentary.
“But, what is going to come out of the book? One would imagine it would be more explosive because it’s his story on his own.
“However, lots of calls from MPs and peers saying they shouldn’t be invited but listen, it’s got nothing to do with anyone else.
“The King will be inviting them and he will be the one to decide.”
Lorraine cut in: “We did a poll on this and 58 percent of our viewers said they should be banned, so it’s pretty much down the middle.
“But I do think if Andrew’s not there and all these other dodgy people aren’t there, then fine.
“But actually no because if you invite people like that, then they should be there as well.”
Lorraine later took to her Twitter page to share her opinion on the matter once again.
She told her 727,800 followers: “If Prince Andrew is invited and attending the Coronation as well as some seriously dodgy Heads of State then obviously Harry and Meghan should be on the guest list. Totally up to them if they want to come.”
Russell shared the Lorraine poll on his own Twitter page before reaffirming it would be Charles who decides if Meghan and Harry are invited to the coronation.
He posted: “As I said on the show this morning, there’s only one person who would make that decision and the King wouldn’t dream of doing so…whether Harry and Meghan come is a different story.”
There are still three episodes left of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix series, Harry & Meghan.
It’s believed the pair will open up about their wedding and the birth of their two children, as well as leaving the Royal Family.
Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV at 9am.
