Love Island bosses promise complete shake-up as 10th series is ‘unexpected’

Love Island fans have been warned to expect the unexpected as the new series comes to ITV.

It'll be back on air on Monday, June 5, and it's going to look quite different to previous series, according to executive producer Mike Spencer.

Speaking ahead of the launch of series 10, it seems they've saved some of their best plans for the big celebration as Mike promised to "freshen up the format".

He told Daily Star and other press: "We do stay true to our word we try to freshen up the format every series.

"This series we've got a really great show – we're kind of turning the show on its head a little bit so you can expect the unexpected and things won't be where you originally think they will be.

"There will be new twists and turns along the way. We're really trying to keep it fresh and exciting, especially for the islanders. If you watch the show, historically you know where things are placed. It's time to change it all up."

Even the beloved Casa Amor could be different this year, with Mike adding: "We never say Casa Amor is back. Things will be a little different this year.

"We will keep people on their toes, they won't expect it."

He also confirmed that there will be some new challenges too, adding that the crew making the show are "really reactive" and will look at what people are saying on air before making any challenge decisions.

Mike added: "Everything has to be based around their relationships. We've got bombshells waiting so if people don't fancy each other we've got their types waiting to go in."

The first shake-up of the series is already taking place with a twist regarding the public vote.

Love Island confirmed that the public will be deciding which islanders couple up in the opening episode by voting via the Love Island app on Thursday morning.

The vote closes on Friday evening at 9pm ahead of the first episode days later.

The public vote has been done once before and saw one couple go the distance – Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page – after being put together on the first day.

Love Island starts Monday 5th June at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX
