Matt Goss career — from 80s pop band success to Las Vegas performer

Autumn has now officially begun and that means one thing — the return of Strictly Come Dancing.

The glitz and glamour is making a comeback tonight as this year's contestants are welcomed into the iconic ballroom for the first time.

The 20th series sees the return of familiar faces, including hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, and judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas.

But we're also set to see a brand new star-studded cast of contestants who will be looking to showcase their fancy footwork to the judges.

This year's series offers a diverse cast of celebs, from Countryfile host Helen Skelton to Paralympic gold medallist Ellie Simmonds.

One of the most highly-anticipated contestants to be joining the line-up this year is singer and songwriter Matt Goss, who is making his Strictly debut as he returns to the UK after living in the US for decades.

As he returns to UK screens, here's everything you need to know about how Matt rose to fame and what he's been doing since.

What boyband was Matt Goss in?

Matt Goss rose to fame in the 1980s when he became the lead singer of the pop group Bros.

The group was formed in 1988 and originally consisted of Matt, his twin brother Luke, and their friend Craig Logan.

In 1987 they released their debut single I Owe You Nothing but it failed to do well in the charts.

However it wasn't long before the young boys started to see success, with their next two singles, When Will I Be Famous and Drop the Boy, reaching second place in the charts.

Their debut single was released again in 1988 and saw the band rocket to fame as this time it reached number one.

They went on to release their album Push, which went quadruple platinum, and won the best new artist Brit Award in 1989.

During that same year Craig left the band but twins Matt and Luke carried on as a duo, releasing three more top 10 hits before officially calling it quits in 1992.

What did Matt Goss do after Bros split up?

After Bros split up in 1992 Matt embarked on a solo career in music, finding success in Las Vegas.

The singer has been performing in the city for decades, starting out at The Palms before moving to Caesar's Palace for an 11-year residency.

However, Matt has recently decided to return home to the UK, where his next career venture will see him hit the dance floor as part of the Strictly Come Dancing 2022 line up.

He also continues to release new music, earlier this year he released his latest album The Beautiful Unknown and last month released a new single titled Are You Ready.
