Naga Munchetty praises best news ever as Jon Kay plants bum on sofa

BBC Breakfast's Jon Kay will be permanently taking over from Dan Walker – much to his co-hosts' joy.

As the news of Jon kay's promotion was revealed various stars joined in the celebrations including one of his his colleagues Naga Munchetty who was left particularly pleased at the announcement.

She quote tweeted Jon's tweet confirming his new role as she wrote: "Best news ever! Welcome to planting your bum permanently on the @BBCBreakafst sofa my brilliant friend @jonkay01."

The pair have built up a strong friendship from their time working together and it seems the fellow co-stars all agree that Jon is a great addition to the team.

Jon's news was welcome by fans, co-hosts and BBC Bosses as he spilled on his latest role.

Taking to Twitter, Jon wrote: "Reshuffle latest" So delighted to share this news and join the outstanding @BBCBreakfast team full time.

"An absolute honour to front the UK's number one morning show with my mates @sallynugent @TVNaga01 and Charlie (and his new cat!)

He was immediately inundated with support, with his co-star Sally Nugent also throwing her happiness under his tweet as she wrote: "Brilliant news [three clapping emojis]."

His fellow colleagues also shared their support, with Holly Hamilton writing: "This is the best news!", while Chris Mason added: "Brilliant news, congratulations Jon."

Victoria Derbyshire added: "Well done Jon!"

Victoria is doing some celebrating of her own, as while Jon's announcement was announced it was revealed that she would be getting a new role too.

The presenter has been appointed BBC Newsnight presenter as she heads towards a slightly different team in yet another reshuffle at BBC.

Jon said he is "over the moon" to become the new regular presenter of the famous breakfast show as he shared his excitement to work alongside his pal Sally on a regular basis.

Meanwhile Victoria said she'll be taking on one of the "best roles in journalism" as she gears up to start her new role in September.

Jon's role will begin effective immediately as he continues to host the morning show after stepping in to replace Dan Walker.
