Nick's emotional as Sam takes a life changing step in Coronation Street
Summer is nearly over, and we all know what that means…back to school! So, as the youngsters in Coronation Street pack their brand-new bags, sharpen their pencils and test out their shiny highlighter pens (everyone does this, right? Not just us?), Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan) is feeling particularly apprehensive ahead of his first day at Weatherfield High School.
The past year has not been an easy one for Sam.
After bonding with his dad, Nick (Ben Price), Sam faced a devastating ordeal last October when his mum, Natasha (Rachel Leskovac), was shot by Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor).
Harvey didn’t intend to shoot Natasha, but pulled the trigger at her, unaware she was wearing the same Halloween costume as Leanne (Jane Danson) – the intended target.
After moving through his grief, recent weeks have been a lot brighter for Sam, as he’s focused on his love for playing chess.
No doubt hoping to find new chess friends at high school, Sam packs up his things and heads off for his first day, with a proud Nick watching on.
Back home, Hope (Isabella Flanagan) watches Sam slip a letter into the post-box, but what is going on here?
Who is Sam attempting to contact?
Could this have anything to do with our exclusive confirmation Harvey Gaskell will return to our screens soon?
