Original Teletubbies sun baby sends fans wild as she makes Big Breakfast debut

Channel 4 viewers were left gobsmacked as the original Teletubbies sun baby appeared on the latest episode of The Big Breakfast.

Hosts Mo Gilligan and AJ Odudu had to guess who she was in a segment during Saturday's (August 20) show.

The presenters and other guests in the studio failed to guess correctly and Jess later revealed her famous job.

The news sent fans wild and they rushed to their keyboards to share their excitement.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "The sun baby from Teletubbies is a grown woman now and a fresh wrinkle has just appeared, oh my days."

Another gushed: "Omg the original sun baby from Teletubbies!"

A third person posted: "The sun baby! how cute!"

Jess previously wrote on social media: "So I've recently celebrated by 19th birthday and after a lot of thought, I've decided it's time to tell everyone.

"I used to hide it but after a lot of encouragement from my friends at university, I've gained the confidence to come out with it."

"I am the sun from Teletubbies. There has been quite a few people pretending to be the sun but only I could tell you the real story."

The Teletubbies official Twitter account clarified who was in the picture, writing: "This is the original Sun Baby, Jess Smith, with our new Sun Baby, Berry! Seeing Jess all grown up makes us feel old too!"

Talking previously about how she landed the role, Jess said: "I was being weighed at the hospital.

"My mum took me and it just happened to be the same time that the producer of the old series had come in and wanted the hospital to get in contact with them if they'd seen any smiley babies.

"It was just a case of sitting in front of a mirror and a camera and my dad playing with toys and race cars and that sort of thing to try and get me to laugh at the camera."
