Paul OGrady in last-ever broadcast as last years show replayed
Lorraine: Presenter plays Paul O’Grady clip from last appearance
National treasure Paul O’Grady’s death was announced on Wednesday by his husband, Andre Portasio. It comes just weeks before the 67-year-old, who once presented BBC Radio 2, was set to present the Easter Sunday Boom Radio show, which he had recently expressed his excitement for. As a tribute to the late icon, the radio station will rebroadcast his final radio show on the day instead.
Comedian, presenter and well-known dog-lover Paul aired the station’s Christmas Day episode last year.
The two-hour show will be played once again in its entirety to honour the beloved star.
The show will air on April 9 at 2pm – when he was scheduled to present his show.
Paul’s producer and close friend Malcolm Prince was set to host alongside him and will now be introducing the special episode.
He stated: “Paul was really proud of the show and he’d find this festive repeat at Easter time very amusing.
“The sentiments in the show feel so right too – hope, wish, fulfilment, joy — even love.”
Paul joined the radio channel last Christmas after 14 years with BBC Radio 2.
On joining the station, Paul told MailOnline earlier this month: “It’s great to be working with the team at Boom again.
“It already feels like my new radio home. My producer Malcolm and I are looking forward to our special TeamPOG show on Easter Sunday – who knows, this could be the start of a regular gig.”
Paul’s final BBC show was in August 2022, which devastated regular listeners who had come to enjoy his broadcasts.
However, his return to Boom Radio never came to be after his “unexpected” death this week.
Since Wednesday, fans, co-stars and famous faces from all sectors of the entertainment industry have paid tribute to the popular animal lover.

Paul first rose to fame as his drag queen alter-ego, Lily Savage. In another gesture to remember him, BBC One will air a historic episode of Blankety Blank, in which the comedian donned a wig and dressed as Lily to host.
Paul later became a presenter in his own right, and the latter part of his career was dominated by his work with the dog charity, Battersea.
Paul’s For the Love of Dogs saw him supporting the charity and getting acquainted with many of its pooches, and he went on to adopt five dogs from the organisation himself.
Paul’s re-broadcasted episode will air on Easter Sunday at 2pm on Boom Radio.
