Phil confronts George amid sinister mystery of missing wife in EastEnders

A huge mystery surrounds the Knight family on EastEnders, as Gina (Francesca Henry) has recently brought up the fact that her dad, George (Colin Salmon), never talks about her mum Rose.

George’s ex-wife Rose abandoned him and their daughters Anna (Molly Rainford) and Gina nine years ago and they’ve heard nothing from her since. In recent emotional scenes Gina accused her father of never talking about Rose.

George asked if she wanted to see her dad cry, implying that he still felt very raw about his ex-wife.

At the same time Linda (Kellie Bright) has been getting increasingly suspicious of George and accused him of only being with her mum Elaine (Harriet Thorpe) for her money. She raised the subject of Rose, suggesting he was so ashamed of her leaving him that he was out to con every woman he could ever since.

George’s angry reaction to this only confirmed to Linda that he was hiding something.

In coming episodes she enlists Phil (Steve McFadden)’s help to try to find out whether George is hiding any secrets and he agrees to see what he can find out. He gets Callum (Tony Clay) to help by searching the police database.

This doesn’t yield much useful information as it seems George’s record is relatively clean. Callum then goes on to do a search for Rose instead and he’s shocked to find that he’s denied access to any record to do with her.

Phil is not a man who likes unanswered questions, so he invites George to spar at the Boxing Den and uses the opportunity to ask him directly about Rose. George reiterates that he has nothing to hide and Linda is wrong to be suspicious of him.

Still not satisfied that he’s being given the full picture, Phil moves on to his next line of attack – Ritchie (Sian Webber). The Mitchells’ legal expert is soon on the case – but what will she discover?

Phil’s patience soon runs out , and in tense scenes Walford’s Hardest Hard Man confronts George and accuses him of not being straight with him.
