Popular ITV quiz show spin-off shelved despite originally getting huge ratings | The Sun
A POPULAR ITV quiz show's spin-off series has been shelved – despite pulling in huge ratings.
The broadcaster has confirmed Celebrity Lingo will not be returning for a second series on ITV1.
Presented by RuPaul, the show saw famous faces go head-to-head in the fast paced word play game.
They had to fill in the blanks and find the missing words in order to win cash.
Media website TVZone first reported the news and The Sun understands the format has been rested.
It was the primetime spin-off to Lingo, which airs on ITV daytime and is presented by Adil Ray.

And a new series is expected to air soon with Adil back at the helm.

The Italian Chef announced on Instagram earlier he has walked off the set of the series, which he stars in alongside Gordan Ramsay and First Dates's Fred Sirieix.
Gino frankly admitted that it was impossible to continue after three series due to a row over the contracts and schedules.
While the show has previously survived without one of its leading men – with Gordon missing one series road trip.
Now there are fears the show could be axed completely if they cannot make things work with Gino.
A source told The Sun: “The show is really hanging in the balance as this has left everything up in the air. It’s now down to ITV to work out if it can continue with just Gordon and Fred, or if it’s better to scrap the whole show.”
