Riptide viewers all make the same savage dig at new Channel 5 drama | The Sun

VIEWERS of the brand new Channel 5 drama Riptide could not help but bring up the same comment over and over again.

The brand new show, which launched last night, is set in Melbourne, Australia and features former EastEnders and Ackley Bridge star Jo Joyner in the leading role of Alison.

British born Alison is based in Australia where she has just married Aussie native Sean Weston, played by former Neighbours star Peter O'Brien.

However with her ex-husband wanting her back, questions are raised when Sean mysteriously goes missing.

Did he disappear in the riptide during his morning surf or is there more to his disappearance than meets the eye?

Viewers of the first episode however were all left saying the same thing about Channel 5's latest show.

Riptide viewers convinced they’ve already solved murder mystery

Fans could not help but point out the large number of former Aussie soap stars cropping up, particularly those from Channel 5's recently axed Neighbours.

They were also left shouting at the TV screens when they noticed former locations of Neighbours appearing on the show, thanks to it being filmed at the Network 10 studio, the same as Neighbours.

Peter O'Brien is notable for his role as Shane Ramsey with co-star Patrick Harvey, who played Connor O'Neill on the ill-fated soap, also appearing in the show.

Ben Turland, famed for his role as charming Hendrix Greyson in the soap also appears in the show as Ethan Weston.
