A ROCK legend has opened up on his secret cancer battle – heartbreakingly revealing he's "never felt pain like it".
Rage Against The Machine bassist Tim Commerford said he'd been on a "brutal" journey after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Tim, 54, opened up about having to undergo horror surgery just months after the band headed on their comeback tour.
Rage Against The Machine travelled round America as part of the series of gigs, two months after Tim had his prostate removed.
The band member admitted he had "never felt pain" like the recovery from the surgery, as he kept his diagnosis under wraps.
Tim said it was only his family and fellow band musicians who knew about the cancer, as he struggled to open up about his diagnosis.

He told news website SPIN: "I’ve been struggling and it’s hard. It might not sound like much, but to get through a conversation and not choke up and get emotional is a win for me.
"The physical suffering after the surgery, I’ve never felt pain quite like that. I've always felt like I had a really high tolerance for pain, but that s**t brought me to my knees.
"After the pain went away, I still haven’t really been able to get up, even though I’m working out and doing s**t, but psychologically, the damage is severe.
"It’s very hard for me to not break down and get emotional."

Tim revealed he was diagnosed with cancer after a series of check-ups for a life insurance policy, requiring his PSA numbers to be noted.
As the numbers, which detect prostate cancer in men, continued to rise – he was sent for a biopsy and diagnosed with cancer.
The star added he regretted not looking into it earlier, as his dad died of cancer in his 70s, and his mum of the disease in her 40s.
Tim said he wanted to make it to the age of 65, as he is prepared for the "long journey" to recovery from the disease.
It comes after Rage Against The Machine cancelled their gigs in Scotland, leaving their fans devastated.
They were due to play the Royal Highlands Centre in Edinburgh in August, but axed the gig amid health fears.
The Los Angeles band then axed their ENTIRE European tour after vocalist Zack de la Rocha was given medical guidance not to go.
The statement read: "Per medical guidance, Zack de la Rocha has been advised that the August and September 2022 leg of the Rage Against the Machine tour cannot proceed.
"It is with great disappointment that we announce this cancellation.
