Sam discovers Amy's sad secret in EastEnders – then betrays her

Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) makes a shocking discovery in EastEnders next week after walking in on Amy (Ellie Dadds).

Amy, as viewers know, is currently at the centre of a big storyline dealing with her mental health, after being bullied by her classmates and dumped by boyfriend Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega).

Next week, Sam makes it her mission to make things right with son Ricky, who has been blanking her since she tore into Denise Fox (Diane Parish) in the wake of her own kiss with Jack Branning (Scott Maslen).

Things, however, don’t exactly go according to plan, as she misses another one of Ricky’s school events, leaving her out in the cold with her son with once more.

Sam might be a lot of things, but a quitter is not one of them and therefore she wastes little time in putting a plan in motion, and after learning that Jack is planning a birthday meal for Amy, she decides to try and get in on the action.

Denise, however, firmly puts Sam in her place, telling her she’s not welcome, but Sam’s still not giving up, as she turns her attention to Amy, buying the teen a dress for the occasion, before letting herself in to the Branning household to drop it off.

Upon doing so, however, she walks in on Amy and makes a shock discovery in the process, before leaving the room in a hurry.

Afterwards, she returns, and Amy invites her to her birthday bash, hoping that doing so will buy her silence.

Sam, however, struggles to keep quiet and therefore she tells Jack everything about what she saw, and the pair soon come to realise that Amy has overheard their conversation.

One to watch: Monday November 14 at 7:30pm on BBC One.
