Spider in serious danger in Corrie as Griff sets out to kill him
When Spider Nugent (Martin Hancock) first returned to Coronation Street, we discovered he was part of an extremism gang.
It shocked us and the Weatherfield residents, many of which knew Spider to be a passionate environmentalist and someone who certainly didn’t isolate a person just because of the colour of their skin.
It was soon established that Spider was actually working as an undercover police officer, pretending to be a member of Griff’s (Michael Condron) gang to gather information and feed back to his colleagues.
Spider was successful in his mission as, after the bomb was found in the Speed Daal van and Alya (Sair Khan) was stabbed, the police managed to intervene and destroy the group, putting the likes of Griff and Reece behind bars and forcing Max (Paddy Bever) to spend time in an STC for his involvement.

In recent episodes, Max was paid a visit by a police officer, who revealed that a trial surrounding the right-wing gang will begin soon, and they need his help to ensure every member is put inside for a very long time.
Next week, the focus turns to Spider. He attends a meeting with his Superintendent who informs him about a new job.
He discovers that it would mean moving away from Weatherfield with a new identity, but he would receive protection from Griff, who’s out for blood.
Prior to Spider’s return to the cobbles, taking on a new job wouldn’t have been a problem for him. He was single, doesn’t have children and was solely focused on his career and putting bad people behind bars.
This time, however, things are different.
Spider is in a relationship with Toyah (Georgia Taylor) now, who knows about his undercover police role.
She has vowed to stay silent about his job, but what will change if Spider tells her about the new mission?
Could Spider exit to protect himself from Griff and leave Toyah behind?
‘Obviously there was a lot of drama a few months ago when Spider was undercover with the far right gang but since then things have quietened down for them’, Georgia Taylor said, reflecting on how Toyah feels in her relationship currently.
‘She’s been doing a few shifts in the bistro; she’s got a bit of a purpose again and she’s very keen for them to get their own place and move the relationship forward. She absolutely sees a future for them [her and Spider].’
