The GB News presenter was discussing Liz Truss’ leaked quotes in which she questioned the productivity of workers in the UK. Agreeing with the comments, Dan Wootton expressed his annoyance at people still working from home after the pandemic as he deemed them “lazy” and demanded they “get off the sofa and stop watching Loose Women in your pants”.

It came as guest Amanda Platell slammed Britons for their attitude towards work.

She argued: “When I had some problems with my leaking cottage and I ordered a company that were sending four workmen to come and work over the weekend to sort it out.

“Only one of them turned up – and he was Romanian. The others read the forecast and said, ‘It might rain so we’re not coming.’

“They were all English, and I’m sorry but that’s just a fact.

“And I know lots of people like your team here who are incredible, but we also know lots of people who milk the system and don’t work hard.

“Liz Truss was addressing them here, and it’s only people like me because I’m not a politician that can come out and say it.”

Adam Brooks added: “The only people who should take offence are the people that know they’re lazy or are playing the benefits system.”

He ranted: “I believe under Tony Blair this country became very lazy.

“A benefits system should be for those who truly need it.

“We need people to work hard which they do but there are a specific amount of people in this country that choose not to work or choose to be lazy.”

He continued: “And we were the slowest to go back to the office after lockdowns.”

“Still half the civil services work from home!” Amanda chimed.

“That’s a point,” Dan agreed. “We embraced the lockdown measures and we’re slower going back to work.

“And you know I’ve been campaigning for a long time – get off the sofa, stop watching Loose Women in your pants and get back to the office! We need that for the country.”

It came as the group discussed a leaked conversation in which Prime Minister hopeful Truss claimed Britons lacked “skill and application”.

She added: “The point that I’ve always made is what we need in this country is more productivity across the country and we need more economic growth.”

Her comments sparked a backlash from those arguing her remarks were “offensive”.

Others have accused Truss of implying the Britons are lazy, but Wootton defended her and argued there is nothing wrong with pushing for further productivity.

He blasted “the left” for hitting out against Truss’ remarks as his guests discussed whether British people are “lazier” than others.

Dan Wootton TOnight airs daily at 9pm on GB News.
