Strictly Come Dancing 2022: Kym Marsh confirmed as second contestant

The second contestant on Strictly Come Dancing 2022 has been announced, and it’s none other than former popstar, actress, and Corrie legend Kym Marsh!

Kym is set to take to the glitzy dancefloor this year alongside actor Will Mellor, who was announced shortly before on BBC Breakfast.

She said: ‘I’ve considered doing Strictly for years but the timings never worked out.

‘I’m so delighted that this year they have! I’m a huge fan of the show and can’t believe I’m going to go from watching at home in my pyjamas to actually dancing in front of the judges in a glittery dress, it’s unreal!’

The star shot to fame as part of the pop group Hear’Say in 2001 alongside the likes of Myleene Klass.

She went on to pursue a solo career and, from 2006, starred as Michelle Connor in Coronation Street.

Kym, 46, is also set to return to soapland as she joins the revival of Waterloo Road.

This means that Anton will once again sit beside Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and head judge Shirley Ballas to deliver his expertise to the next line-up of celebrities and their pro partners.

Speaking of the professional dancers, four new faces have been cast on the show, following Oti Mabuse and Aljaž Škorjanec’s exits after seven and nine years respectively.

Strictly Come Dancing will begin on BBC One on September 7.
