With just eight couples left, the time has come for them to take to the iconic Blackpool dance floor. The Strictly Come Dancing stars will be putting on their best performances to impress the judges and make it through to another week. However, comedian Ellie Taylor has faced a devastating blow as bookmakers revealed she is favourite to be eliminated next.
Ellie and her partner Johannes Radebe will be performing the American Smooth to You’re My World by Cilla Black.
However, her Strictly Come Dancing journey could come to an end after this weekend, as bookmakers Ladbrokes see her odds at elimination stand at 9/4.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Once again Ellie Taylor finds herself at the head of the Strictly elimination betting, with Kym Marsh being her most likely challenger for the boot.”
He added: “Hamza has pulled even further ahead in the betting for the Glitterball Trophy; we’d be baffled if his or Helen’s positions are in jeopardy this weekend.”
Following closely behind Ellie is Morning Live presenter Kym Marsh standing at 5/2 and radio presenter Tyler West.
Last week, Ellie and Johannes opened the show with their Charleston routine to Friendship by Elaine Paige and Bernard Cribbins.
She sat sixth on the leaderboard with a score of 31 from the judges and received a standing ovation from head judge Shirley Ballas.
Shirley praised: “Well Couple’s Choice and Charleston definitely suit you. I thought it was synchronised, I thought it was very much together.
“You both looked like you absolutely had a ball, did you really enjoy it? Because that is how it looked. Lovely swivel, lovely connection between the two of you, definitely on a roll.”
Sadly, for Tony Adams, his Strictly journey came to an end after he had to pull out of the competition due to sustaining an injury.
He was voted to be in the dance-off against Tyler and Dianna Buswell, but due to his exit, the pair sailed through to Blackpool.
After narrowly securing a place at Blackpool, Tyler recently spoke out about getting through and said: “It is such a surreal feeling. I feel so lucky.
“And it just also feels like a bit of relief, knowing that you put in all those hours to get you to this point in the show.
“And then you’re able to go through and put the performance in Blackpool ballroom, and it’s going to be mad – honestly, the best thing ever.”
The presenter added: “I think it’s like being part of that sort of magical moment. It finally feels like we’re back in our stride, back to sort of some normality, sort of post-pandemic.
“So it feels like this is like the cherry on top of the cake, to be honest.
“Just thinking that some boy from South London estate is now dancing in front of millions, it’s a surreal feeling but then to be going to Blackpool is a bit monumental.”
Tyler and Dianne will be performing the Salsa to Megamix by KC & The Sunshine Band in a bid to pull back their high scores and impress the judges.
Over the years, Blackpool has provided some memorable Strictly moments over the years, including Ed Balls being lowered from the ceiling playing the guitar.
Ann Widdecombe also comes up as a memorable moment, after her Samba alongside Anton Du Beke both dressed in bright yellow, scoring just 13 out of 40 in 2010.
Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday from 7:45pm on BBC One, followed by the results on Sunday.
