Strictlys Giovanni Pernice favouritism row as same-sex pairing confirmed

Strictly Come Dancing are reportedly making plans for Giovanni Pernice to dance with Richie Anderson in a same-sex couple during this year’s series.

The plans have allegedly plunged pro-dancer Giovanni into a favouritism row.

The 31-year-old won last year’s series with EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis, with his cast-mates allegedly speculating he will “sail” through the contest a second time round.

It will be the third time the show has featured a same-sex partnership, which previously included celebrities Nicola Adams and 2021 runner-up John Whaite.

A source claimed to The Sun: "Some of Gio's fellow pros have raised eyebrows about chat of him getting Richie.

"The last two same sex couples have done really well and the feeling is that whoever gets Richie could go all the way and win it.

"Winning two on the bounce would be great for Gio — but not all of his colleagues feel the same way."

On his upcoming appearance on Strictly, presenter Richie took to Instagram, writing: “My dream has come true (heart emoji) I can’t wait to get in the iconic ballroom. Good luck to my pro partner, as my dancing skills have previously been compared to Bambi on ice (laughing face emoji) bring it on (explosion emoji).”
