Strictlys Tony Adams wife Poppy melts viewers hearts with sweet comment

Strictly Come Dancing's Tony Adams' wife, Poppy, melted viewers' hearts on Saturday with a sweet comment about her husband.

During the latest instalment, Tony, 55, performed a Charleston to My Old Man’s A Dustman by Foster and Allen with pro Katya Jones.

The duo put on an energetic performance in matching flat caps, shirts and waistcoats and bounded around the room.

Prior to the performance, Tess Daly spoke to Tony's wife Poppy, who he married in 2004, in the audience.

To which Poppy said of her husband: "I've never been so proud or so in love with him! He's going to absolutely nail it and I'm going to probably cry!"

During the judges' feedback, Shirley Ballas, 62, gave them a standing ovation and credited Tony for his confidence, with Anton Du Beke telling them that he "loved" it.

Craig Revel Horwood however, didn't hold back when he told them it was "stiff, stiff, stiff". They received a total of 22 points.

Viewers were quick to react to Tony's wife as one person tweeted: "#strictly Ahh, lovely comment from Tony Adam’s wife."

A different account put: "Tony Adams’ wife is my favourite person on this years show #Strictly."

Another viewer wrote: "So moved when Tony Adams' wife said watching him dance made her love him even more. #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing #StrictlySpoiler #TonyAdams #KatyaJones."

While a different follower added: "Aw I like Tony’s wife #Strictly."

Speaking about signing up to Strictly, Tony said: "To say I’m excited is an understatement – the lure of the sequins and the call of the salsa has me swapping my battered old football boots for a set of Strictly soft shoes.

"Am absolutely thrilled to be giving it my all on this year’s 20th anniversary of Strictly Come Dancing. I can’t wait to meet my partner – god help her – and start the dancing.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Sunday and next Saturday on BBC One.
