Succession’s Brian Cox drops huge finale spoiler
Brian Cox on being ‘hangry’ on set of Succession
Fans were completely bowled over on Sunday night on HBO and Monday on Sky Atlantic when the fourth and final season of Succession delivered the drama’s most shocking twist so far. As the Roy siblings handle the fallout from a devastating loss, Brian Cox has weighed in on what’s in store for the remaining seven episodes.
Warning – this article contains major spoilers for Succession season four.
Scottish star Cox isn’t convinced Logan’s kids will end up on top after Sunday night’s jaw-dropping Succession twist.
In the third episode of the fourth season, Connor’s Wedding, the comedy-drama finally delivered what fans have been fearing since the start of the series back in 2018.
Cox’s media mogul and Tom Wambsgans (Matthew Macfadyen) board a plane to negotiate a new deal with Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård), only for Logan to drop dead in the bathroom.
Logan’s death will leave Shiv (Sarah Snook), Kendall (Jeremy Strong) and Roman (Kieran Culkin) scrambling to take back control, but the series’ patriarch has some surprising predictions for the finale.
As the dust settles, Cox admitted first of all: “I don’t know, because I haven’t seen it.
“So I don’t really know what, you know because I don’t read stuff if I’m not in it. I’ve got enough to be getting on with.”
Although the actor isn’t in the know regarding the rest of the season, he still has some valuable insight after working with showrunner Jesse Armstrong for the past five years.
While many fans will be placing bets on which of Logan’s four children will be crowned Waystar’s top dog, Cox believes the company will head in a very different direction.
“My suspicion is that it won’t be the kids,” he predicted to Deadline.
“I think that they will get locked out. Ultimately, they’ll get locked out.”
Logan’s children already took a huge blow at the end of season three when their planned coup was sabotaged by Tom, leaving them with no hope of inheriting the company.
However, season four opened with a stunning gamble to try and buy out Nan Pierce (Cherry Jones) with a $10 billion bid, but Cox believes this could blow up in their face.

“The whole Pierce thing was such a stupid f*****g idea anyway,” he continued.
“And not well handled on their part. It was the last big mistake and I could see them walking into a s**tstorm.”
With seven episodes left to go before Succession reaches its conclusion, Cox predicted even more unexpected pitfalls are on the way.
“And I think they’re going to be walking into more shitstorms,” he teased. “So, I’m not sure if they’re going to be coming out running it.”
“So, the only other alternative is to, I suppose is Matsson, you know, if that works.
“Or, the other alternative is, where does Tom and Greg Hirsch (Nicolas Braun) go to, you know?
“Where do they go to? What does Tom go to, with, in his extremely dysfunctional relationship with his wife?”
Whilst Kendall, Shiv and Roman squabble amongst themselves about the future of Waystar, could streaming whiz Lukas swoop in with a surprise bid at the eleventh hour?
Succession season 4 continues Sundays on HBO in the USA and the following Monday on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
