Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver has enthused over taking HRT (hormone replacement therapy), remarking on the boost of energy it’s given her.

HRT is medicine used to treat the symptoms of the menopause, which women and people with uteruses experience when their periods stop due to lower hormone levels as they get older.

The 59-year-old revealed that she had started HRT at the beginning of 2022, which she praised as the ‘biggest change for me’.

‘I realised I should have done that five years ago because I feel like a different human being,’ she shared on Thursday’s episode of This Morning.

‘I have so much energy, everything is falling into place, my kids are growing up and it’s like this is my time.’

Sue shares a son, 24-year-old Elliot, with her first husband James Quinn, who she was married to from 1993 to 2003.

She is now married to lighting technician Brian Owen, who she met on the set of Corrie.

Referencing her recent stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Sue also credited HRT in helping change her attitude towards taking part in the show.

‘I always said I’d never do the jungle – I did it, I loved it, it’s given me a great confidence, it’s given be a big boost and I want lots more adventures.’

‘I feel like a completely different person to myself, I’m just raring to go! This is my decade. This is for me,’ she added.

The star is gearing up to return to Weatherfield as Eileen Grimshaw soon, having been shown leaving the cobbles for Thailand over Christmas in order to account for her temporary absence from the show, when she headed to Australia for the reality show back in November.

Eileen’s big trip came about after she was left positively stunned when her son Jason (Ryan Thomas) sent her an e-ticket, gifting her the opportunity to spend one month in the country with him.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
