CBS’ action-packed drama The Equalizer made its highly anticipated return to screens with season three. With Queen Latifah’s comeback as the no-nonsense Robyn McCall in the hit adaptation, the actress revealed she would love to work with the star of the movie franchise.
The Equalizer first premiered in 2021 and became a huge hit among viewers and those who were fans of the original 2014 film.
The adapted series followed former CIA operative Robyn who teamed up with other professionals to solve Jewel Machado’s (played by Lorna Courtney) case after she was framed for murder.
Despite the main tweak of Queen Latifah being a woman, the main premise of the storyline is related to the original movie.
As Denzel stars as Bob McCall who used his skill as a former Marine and DIA operative to protect the citizens of Boston.
With the recent release of The Equalizer season three and The Equalizer Three expected for release in 2023, fans shared hopes of a potential crossover between both projects.
When quizzed, Latifah revealed: “That’s up to D, it’s really between him and Antoine [Fuqua]. “Obviously, I love him to pieces, I have the greatest amount of respect for him.
“What he’s done with the films has been incredible, and I’d be more than happy to connect with him on any level. It’s just kind of like that with us.”
The actress teased: “So, who knows what’s gonna happen?
“Who knows what could happen, but, I’m looking forward to whatever he’s gonna do, because I know when he gets in the zone, it gets in the zone.
Latifah told Variety: “I’m gonna keep doing TVs Robyn McCall and let him keep rocking the movie version of McCall; I know we’ll both continue to deliver.”
As Denzel’s appearance in season three would come as a welcomed surprise for fans, other A-listers have also made a guest appearance.
During season two, Jada Pinkett Smith starred as Jessie Cook, Robyn’s former colleague and a prolific thief.

Season three ended on a major cliffhanger after Robyn, Vi (Lorraine Toussaint) and Delilah (Laya DeLeon Hayes) were driving when they were hit by another car.
It became clear it was a planned attack as two assailants showed up, rushed Robyn out of the vehicle, covered her head and threw her into the back of an SUV.
Vi and Delilah weren’t able to stop them as they were disorientated and shaken up after the crash.
Thankfully for fans, season three picked up moments after Robyn’s abduction with Robyn and Vi being questioned by police officers.
As Robyn was able to remember information about the getaway vehicle and Vi provided details about the captor, law enforcement was able to track down one of the culprits.
While the criminal was forced to give up Robyn’s location, viewers learned the city was in danger as Mason Quinn (Chris Vance) had plans to set off bombs in the city.
With their safety at risk Vi and Delilah left the city, while Robyn was able to escape her captor.
Thankfully, Quinn’s plans failed and Robyn was able to reunite with Vi and Delilah.
The Equalizer season 3 continues Sunday on CBS. A UK release date hasn’t been announced.
