The One Shows Jermaine Jenas swipes at Alex Jones as she questions his skills

Alex Jones seemed to find herself in the dog house with Jermaine Jenas on Wednesday's The One Show – 27 July.

The 45-year-old Welsh star and the former Tottenham Hotspurs footballer, 39, were discussing the huge 4-0 win by England's Women's team in the Euro 2022 final, against Sweden.

Alessia Russo had scored a groundbreaking goal – flicking the ball back behind her with it scurrying through a mass of defenders and the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

Jermaine and Alex were really "impressed" with the goal and commented on the skill involved to achieve an outcome like that.

Unable to stop herself, Alex turned to her co-star to ask if he'd ever managed to score in a similar way.

Alex asked: "Have you ever done that?"

This subtle jibe left a bad taste with the football pundit, who hit back telling her: "Why have you got to go there?"

He added: "There's no need. Alright. England are getting into the final. Wembley, packed out final."

"I told you that they were going to do that," chimed in Alex.

"You did. You were very confident," commented Jermaine.
