This Morning fans confused as Phillip Schofield 'goes missing' from show in presenter shake-up | The Sun

THIS Morning fans have been left confused as Phillip Schofield "went missing" from the programme on Monday morning.

Viewers of the daytime ITV show were left in shock to see Holly Willoughby joined by her co-star Alison Hammond instead.

This Morning fans were confused after watching Holly, 41, sit down on the iconic blue sofa with Alison, 48, instead of her usual co-star.

Phillip, 60, was nowhere to be seen on Monday's instalment of the popular ITV show, which he has presented with Holly since 2009.

Announcing the show, Holly said: "Hello. Welcome to your Monday. Phillip is having the week off so all the adults have left the building."

Alison then chimed in, laughing: "It's fantastic. Nice way to start the week off, and lovely to have you here."

But fans were left seriously confused, and took to Twitter to question why Phil had "gone missing".

One penned: "What, there's no Phil?" as another chimed in: "Shouldn't Holly just be taking the lead in the absence of Phil?"

It comes after it was revealed that Alison was due to take Phillip's place on the show, after posting on Instagram before the show.

Former Big Brother star Alison added: "See you at 10am."

Alison told viewers: "Guess what, I'm going to be hosting. Monday, 10 o'clock, see you there!"

The news of the presenter swap-out comes not long after it was revealed Alison was being lined up as Holly's successor on This Morning.

A source told the Mirror: "ITV bosses are clear they want Holly to return to This Morning next year.

"But while a question mark hangs over her future, there have been conversations about who could step in if she decided to go."

The source explained: "Top of that list is Alison. She has gone from being seen as a safe pair of hands to a real asset to the channel."
