Tipping Point’s Ben Shephard struggles not to laugh at player’s awkward blunder
Tipping Point host Ben Shephard struggled to hold in his laughter on Thursday’s episode (June 5) after a player made an epic question blunder.
The long-standing host welcomed four new players to the ITV gameshow as they all bid to win a £10k cash prize on the machine.
As Alice, Umar, John and Karen battled it out to drop their coins in the machine, it was player Umar that stole the show when he buzzed in to answer before waiting to hear the whole question.

As Ben began asking about a type of chocolate that comes in eight colours, Umar took his chances and yelled out: "Coronation Street.”
Looking totally baffled, Ben said: “Coronation Street?” before finishing the question, saying: “It’s typically sold in hexagonal tubes. I was looking for a chocolate covered sweet!
“Smarties is the answer,” he giggled after at the epic mistake.
He then tried to help Umar out by asking if he meant to say Quality Street – to which Umar agreed.
But Ben didn’t relent, adding: “but you said Coronation Street which is a TV show!” as he continued laughing alongside the rest of the players.
Viewers at home were equally amused, taking to social media to comment: “I’ll take a Box of Coronation Street please..,” one fan joked.
“I am sitting on my sofa eating my Coronation Streets,” said a second.
A third joked: “The answer was Smarties but Omar said Coronation Street,” followed by three laughing emojis, as a fourth added: “Coronation street. That well known chocolate brand. You plonker Umar!”
Sadly Umar’s luck continued on a downwards spiral and one offered up some advice, saying: “Umar…. If you don’t know the answer just shout out “ emmerdale farm” #tippingpoint.”
He was soon the first contestant to be booted off.
“Bye Umar, get a tube of Coronation Street to cheer yourself up,” a fan joked.
Alice and Karen sailed through to the final two to battle it out for a spot in the final.
Alice, following in Umar’s footsteps, made viewers howl when she was asked to name the collective terms for moles, which is also the name of a UK government party.
Her answer “Liberal Democrats” was way, with the correct answer being Labour
“Between "Coronation Street!" and 'a Liberal Democrat of moles', I'm roaring at #TippingPoint today. I'll have whatever they're drinking!” said one fan
Karen was able to take a significant lead against Alice, sending her packing.
“Bye Alice, keep an eye out for a Liberal Democrat of moles eating coronation street tubes on the way home.”
