THE Unforgotten season 5 release date has finally been confirmed – and fans all say the same thing.
The hit ITV drama will see the return of actor Sanjeev Bhaskar as DI Sunny Khan.
However, he will be joined for series five by a new recruit, DCI Jess James, played Sinéad Keenan.
Her arrival comes after the shock death of DCI Cassie Stuart -played by Nicola Walker – at the end of series four.
Now Unforgotten's creator Chris Lang has revealed when fans can expect to see the new series.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote: "Delighted to announce the return of #Unforgotten, series 5, on Monday 27th Feb at 21.00 on @ITV starring the deliciously talented @TVSanjeev and his new partner in crime, the absurdly brilliant @SineadKeenan. Buckle up team…"

Unforgotten fans immediately took to the comments section to share their joy at the news.

The synopsis for the series reads: "The clock [is] ticking down to DCI James's first day in her new job with an unforeseen and devastating introduction to her family life.
"Determined to make a good first impression with her new colleagues, will Jess be in the right frame of mind to deliver and inspire the team?
"And inevitably how will the ghost of much-loved former colleague Cassie Stuart haunt her?
"After all, Cassie will be big shoes for her to fill. Does she have the resolve, professionalism and spirit to live up to her much-admired and respected predecessor?"
Unforgiven returns on Monday, February 27 at 9pm on ITV1.
