EASTENDERS fans will notice a difference in the next instalment of the hit BBC One soap.

The fan favourite show is switching channels, and will be on BBC Two instead.

Why is EastEnders on BBC Two tonight?

EastEnders will lose its place in BBC One's schedule tonight (November 22, 2022).

This is to make way for the World Cup France v Australia game instead.

However, all is not lost, as the programme will move over to BBC Two, and will still air at 7.30pm.

Fans can expect disruption to the BBC soap's schedule throughout the famous football tournament.

What channel will EastEnders be on during the World Cup 2022?

EastEnders usually broadcasts Monday to Thursday evenings at 7.30pm on BBC One.

However, during the World Cup, it will air on both BBC One and BBC Two.

The tournament kicked off on November 20, 2022 and is running until December 8, 2022.

It will air on both ITV and the BBC – with the soap schedules in chaos because of it.

  • November 23, 2022 – EastEnders airs on BBC Two at 7.30pm
  • November 24, 2022 – EastEnders airs on BBC Two at 7.30pm
  • November 28, 2022 – EastEnders airs on BBC One at 7.30pm

When did the first ever episode of EastEnders air on the BBC?

When EastEnders broadcast their first ever episode on February 19, 1985, 13 million viewers tuned in.

It began with a bang as, Arthur Fowler, Ali Osman and Den Watts forced their way into Reg Cox's flat and found Reg near death. .

EastEnders was created by Julia Smith and Tony Holland as a soap opera to rival Coronation Street and draw big audiences to BBC One.

Set in the fictional Borough of Walford, E20, it focuses on the lives of working class east end Londoners.
