Netflix’s The Crown follows the lives of Britain’s most influential family as they navigate through their public and personal issues, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Following the success of its previous seasons, the period drama is currently making its sixth series as the story continues. But fans have already had a sneak peek into the upcoming season after spotting Will and Kate actors filming scenes.
Ed McVey and Meg Bellamy have been cast to portray the Prince and Princess of Wales in the final season of The Crown.
This week the on-screen couple were spotted shooting the upcoming season in different locations by eagle-eyed TikTok users.
The actors appear to be filming scenes from when the royals’ were at the University of St Andrews in Scotland in 2001.
One clip shows a scene unfolding, with McVey chasing Bellamy down a cobbled street as she walked arm-in-arm with a male friend.
Fictional Prince William sported a bright red jacket paired with a navy jumper and denim jeans.
Meanwhile, Kate’s actor rocked a dark green jacket as she carried a brown leather bag on her shoulder.
A production team surrounded the actors, as one member held a microphone whilst the others held black screens – most likely in an attempt to ensure the lighting was perfect.
It seemed “Will” was chasing “Kate” down as he tried to get her attention, they then appeared to be in a heated discussion as the Prince could be seen gesturing his hands trying to explain something to Kate.

TikTok user @Reillumay4 captured the scene and shared it on her TikTok account with the caption: “pov: you climb out of a window because Prince Willam”.
Under the clip, one fan @caktus wrote: “I love the absolute commitment everyone has to filming this before it’s out”.
Another @Joey.nc wrote: “The fact that when you see this episode on Netflix you’ll always know that you were up above recording”
With a third @PaulaPetticrew adding: “Oh brilliant nosing for you this week! Wish I was there.”
@Reillumay4 wasn’t the only TikTok user to spot the royal couple filming as @shark_bateman also gave fans a cheeky preview of what’s to come in season six.
The TikTok was captioned: “pov the crown is filming at your uni and the students are having so much fun with it.”
The video showed Will and Kate wearing the same outfits but in a different location, as they appeared to be filming another scene in the upcoming season.
Reposting the clip on Twitter @katehalliwell wrote: “obsessed with the sneak peaks of The Crown that students are posting on tiktok” (sic)
McVey and Bellamy were also recently pictured recreating the monumental moment Will and Kate first locked eyes, whilst out on a jog during their time at university.
It has been confirmed the final season of The Crown will show events that occurred from late ’90s to until the early 2000s.
The period drama will also entail the tragic moments leading up to the death of Princess Diana in 1997.
Netflix hasn’t confirmed when the sixth season of The Crown will be back on viewers’ screens, but going by previous releases, fans expect new episodes to drop around November 2023.
Seasons one to five of The Crown are currently streaming on Netflix.
