Aristocrat Constance Marten and her partner Mark Gordon have been charged with gross negligence manslaughter after the remains of a baby were found after an extensive search.

Marten and her partner were also accused of concealing the birth of a child and perverting the course of justice, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.

The body of a baby was found in a wooded area of Brighton on Wednesday (March 1) after a two-day search operation involving around 200 personnel.

Marten and Gordon were arrested on Monday night (February 27) in Stanmer Villas, Brighton, after a member of the public tipped police off to their whereabouts.

Prior to this the pair had been spotted on CCTV across the country.

They are due to appear at Brighton Magistrates' Court on Friday.

On Thursday, the Metropolitan Police said it is "too early" to provide the baby's official date of death but said the tragic tot had been dead for "several weeks".
