Armie Hammer faces assault claims for choking woman, 26, unconscious
Armie Hammer faced new assault claims after woman, 26, said he choked her unconscious during sex but judge dismissed temporary restraining order after both actor and accuser fail to turn up to court
- Armie Hammer faced new allegations of assault from a woman, 26
- The actor has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct with all partners
Armie Hammer had a temporary restraining order case against him dropped last week after a new accuser, 26, did not appear in court.
The woman claimed Hammer had choked her unconscious during sex and ignored a safe word while under the influence of alcohol, ketamine and ecstasy.
She filed papers on 1 February and was granted the temporary restraining order two days later, which has since been dismissed but can be refiled.
Hammer has since stated and maintained that all his sexual encounters have been consensual.
He was previously and separately accused of sexual assault by another 26-year-old woman called ‘Effie’, since identified as Effie Angelova, who came forward in March 2021 alleging emotional and physical abuse.

Hollywood entertainment lawyer Andrew Brettler, who is acting as Hammers’ attorney, said: ‘Mr Hammer was never served with any court papers. As such, he was not required to appear.
‘Armie does not know the person who filed the suit, has never heard of her, and was in Los Angeles on the day when the alleged incident supposedly occurred in New York City.
‘We have photographs of him in L.A. on the date in question.’
Photographs have not been shared.
The woman known as Effie wrote on her ‘House of Effie’ Instagram account that ‘a judge has granted a young Asian woman a restraining order against Armie’.
The name and identity of the plaintiff have not been confirmed.
Her age has been omitted from the shared Citation and Temporary Civil Protection Order, but the document lists her as an Asian female.
The Arnie Hammer case has now been ongoing for over two years.
It began in January 2021 when social media users started sharing screenshots of alleged direct messages from the actor containing descriptions of graphic, kinky sexual fantasies, ostensibly sent to different women over several years.
Hammer acknowledged these and stated the BDSM references were all consensual.
He and his legal team denied the surrounding allegations that among these messages were cannibalistic fantasies and abusive behavior.
In one message, the actor allegedly writes to Effie: ‘I am 100% a cannibal. I want to eat you.’
‘F**k. That’s scary to admit,’ the message continues. ‘I’ve never admitted that before.’
Former partners Paige Lorenze and Courtney Vucekovich also later accused the actor of being physically and emotionally abusive.
Lorenze told Page Six that the actor had carved the letter ‘A’ into her pelvis to brand her and then sucked the blood that oozed out.
She also accused him of being emotionally manipulative and said he repeatedly spoke of ‘consuming her.’
After the allegations first began to mount in January 2021, Hammer stepped down from a role in Jennifer Lopez’s film Shotgun Wedding and denied the allegations against him in a statement to the Daily Mail.
‘I’m not responding to these b******* claims but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for four months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic,’ he said.
A representative for the production said: ‘Armie has requested to step away from the film and we support him in his decision.’
It was later reported he would be divorcing from his wife of ten years, Elizabeth Chambers.
Chambers had filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences in July 2020.
Hammer has not publicly commented on the reasons for his divorce.
In March 2021, Effie Angelova came forward as an alleged victim.
She said that Hammer had emotionally and physically abused her during their relationship in 2016.
She filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court for rape, battery and emotional distress.
In April 2021, Julia Morrison came forward and said she planned to sell screenshots of explicit BDSM-type messages as non-fungible tokens.
Hammer disappeared from the spotlight for a time after this.
Over a year later, in September 2022, Effie spoke out against Hammer’s ex-wife, Elizabeth, who said that Armie was ‘healing’.
She also shared messages on her Instagram account which appeared to show Elizabeth encouraging Effie to go public with her claims.
A message received from a woman saved as Elizabeth Chambers said: ‘Stay focused on what you know and getting these stories on record. Not just the internet.’
Earlier this month, Chambers broke her silence, branding her former husband the ‘worst’ and saying he abandoned the family during lockdowns.
In an interview with Elle magazine, she also said she was worried about how Hammer’s behavior will affect their children, asking: ‘Do I want my son to become this? Would I want my daughter to stay in a relationship like this?’

Effie Angelova, 26, had accused Armie Hammer, 36, in 2021 of having ‘violently raped’ her

This came days after a February 2023 interview in which Hammer said that his interest in consensual BDSM developed after he was molested by a church pastor aged 13.
He said that he had attempted suicide while in the Cayman Islands, where he lived as a child and quarantined during the pandemic.
‘I just walked out into the ocean and swam out as far as I could and hoped that either I drowned, or was hit by a boat, or eaten by a shark,’ Hammer said.
Effie responded, saying the actor was only looking for sympathy and silence victims.
Angelova said in an Instagram Story that Hammer had previously told her about how he had tried to commit suicide, claiming that it happened before she spoke out against him, not after, as he has suggested.
The Air Mail interview points out some discrepancies in Effie’s claims.
Hammer and his lawyers deny all the allegations made against him, insisting all sexual acts with his partners were consensual.
