Boy, 11, left disfigured and needing 150 stitches after horror pit bull attack

An 11-year-old boy has needed 150 stitches after being horrifically mauled by a pit bull in a savage attack.

The young boy, Pushp Tyagi, was playing in a park in Ghaziabad, a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, when the attack occurred on September 3.

The horrifying attack, which caused Pushp to require surgery, was captured in a video and shared online.

The shocking clip shows the owner trying to control the dog before it suddenly jumped at Pushp and bit his face.

Pushp's dad, local businessman Sachin Tyagi, explained what had happened as he said: "My son was playing in the park when the belt of the dog slipped from the hands of the girl, who had come with the animal to the park.

"The pit bull then attacked my son disfiguring his face."

He added: "He has received 150 stitches.

"Pit bulls are a dangerous dogs and earlier also, the animal attacking people have come to the fore. Our children are not safe."

The owner of the dog was identified as Subhash Tyagi, who received a fine of 5,000 rupees, around £53.

While Sachin claims the breed of dog is dangerous One Green Planet were insistent on defending the animals.

They said: "Today, pit bulls remain largely misunderstood because of irresponsible owners, sensationalist news stories, and the proliferation of myths.

"Pit bulls are not inherently dangerous. Like any other dog, they can become violent, aggressive, and mean through a lack of training, abuse, neglect, irresponsible ownership and breeding as well as a lack of attention to health and temperament issues."
