Brit mum and daughter mowed down by white van mounting pavement in Tenerife as cops launch hunt for hit-and-run driver | The Sun

POLICE in Tenerife are hunting a hit-and-run driver who mowed down a British mum and daughter.

The incident happened at the weekend near a residential estate in San Miguel de Abona, south of the Spanish Isle.

It has not been confirmed whether the British pair were holidaying in the tourist hotspot or live on the Canary Island.

However, horrific details reveal a white van mounted the pavement and hit them from behind as they walked along the path in an area called Las Chafiras.

The daughter was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries.

She was taken to Our Lady of Candelaria University Hospital in the island capital, Santa Cruz.

The mother suffered moderate rib trauma and was taken to another hospital called Hospiten Sur.

Local reports said the driver who mowed them down stopped briefly but sped off after seeing his victims lying on the ground.

Civil Guard officers are now working with local police to find the man responsible.

A spokesman for a regional emergency response group said: "The emergency call we received said the two women were injured by a vehicle that mounted the pavement.

“The incident happened in an avenue called Avenida Jose Miguel Galvan in San Miguel de Abona at around 8.30pm on Sunday.
