Brits set to temperatures hotter than IBIZA this weekend with 77F high

Summer is here! Brits set to temperatures hotter than IBIZA this weekend with highs of 77F as fine, dry weather continues before the mercury peaks at 89F next week

  • Tuesday next week could see a high of 32C (89.6F) – which will be the same temperature as Rome and Malaga
  • Temperatures are inching up day by day over the course of the rest of the week, with a high of 28C on Sunday
  • Met Office forecasters say that fine dry weather could be followed by cooler air by Wednesday next week

Britain is gearing up for a scorching few days ahead as temperatures could skyrocket to 32C (89.6F) by Tuesday next week.

The prolonged run of warm weather this week will see temperatures inching up every day until Tuesday 12 July, as the high pressure is set to become more dominated across the UK.

Forecasters at the Met Office have said fine dry weather over the next few days could be followed by cooler air taking the UK’s temperatures back down later next week.

Oli Claydon, a spokesman for the Met Office told MailOnline: ‘Speaking generally, high pressure is sat in the south west of the UK, bringing settled conditions.

‘Over the next few days, the high pressure will become more dominated meaning the settled conditions will move into the rest of the UK.

‘This will help build temps through the end of the week and the weekend as well.

‘If we start on Thursday, we can see 26C (78.8F) as a high, 27C (80.6F) is a high on Friday, and temperatures largely will be a degree or so cooler on Saturday.

‘But we could still see a 27C (80.6F) confined to the very far south coast on Saturday. On Sunday, there looks to be a high of 28C (82.4F).

‘It’s not until Monday which we could see a high of 30C (86F) in the south east. Tuesday is the expected peak of the temperatures, again likely to be midlands and the south. It could be 32C (89.6F) in some places, and largely low 30C’s (86F) for the rest of the UK.

‘Past Tuesday, there’s quite a lot of uncertainty, which is down to the possibility of different scenarios. A cold front could take temperatures right down to the low 20C’s (68F), introducing cooler air.

‘Or we could see temperatures sticking out – but there is quite a bit of uncertainty in the forecast at the moment.

‘Monday and Tuesday is pretty consistent with that high pressure and fine, dry weather building.’

Inner London has seen 26C (78.8F), while northern areas including Sheffield, Manchester and Newcastle Upon Tyne are experiencing 18C (64.4F) this afternoon. Pictured, overcast skies cover Plymouth seafront where paddleboarders take to the water

As for the rest of July, the national forecaster has said that there is uncertainty in predictions further ahead, especially with the unpredictable weather after Tuesday’s 32C (89.6F) high.

‘Over the next couple of days, the north west is getting lower cloud and rain at times as the weather is not consistent across the UK,’ the Met Office added.

This 32C (89.6F) heat early next week will be the same temperature felt in Malaga, Rome and Puerto Rico.

And it will be even hotter than holiday hotspots Santorini, Ibiza, Split and Monaco, which will see temperatures of 26C (78.8F), 29C (84.2F), 30C (86F) and 27C (80.6F), respectively.
