Cops release CCTV image of man after woman 'raped' in underpass near Ashford | The Sun

POLICE have released CCTV footage of a man they wish to speak to after a woman was allegedly raped in an underpass.

The crime is said to have unfolded in the early hours of the morning on New Year's Day near Ashford.

Cops said the woman was allegedly raped at around 12.30am on Sunday in an underpass between Station Approach and Torrington Road.

The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate have been investigating and found the footage of a man who was seen in Torrington Road around that time.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Kimber said: "I appreciate this is not the clearest image but I am hoping someone may recognise the man pictured or it may jog someone's memory about something they saw that night."

Officers are also appealing to anyone who was in the area and saw anything suspicious, to residents with private CCTV, and to motorists with dashcam footage that may assist the investigation.
