Denver weather: Scattered thunderstorms, rain Tuesday afternoon

A warm day in Denver Tuesday could lead to afternoon storms from the mountains entering the area.

Denver will start its day with a high of 82 degrees, then a 40% chance of storms will begin after 2 p.m. The mountains will also have fairly warm weather, up to the upper 60s and even low 70s in some areas, leading to scattered storms and showers.

Later into the evening, Denver’s 40% chance of storms and showers continues, and there will be light wind between five and ten mph. Gusts could reach up to 16 mph. Denver’s low temperature is 52 degrees.

The eastern plains could get some stronger storms late Tuesday evening as the storms leave Colorado, with 60 mph winds and golf ball size hail possible.

Denver’s storm chances steadily increase throughout the week, with a 50% chance on Wednesday, a 60% chance on Thursday and a 70% chance on Friday.

Temperatures will stay in the 70s and low 80s most of the week.
