Doting Carrie Johnson holds hands with Boris as he makes final speech outside Downing Street | The Sun
BORIS Johnson's wife held hands with the outgoing Prime Minister as he prepared to give his resignation speech.
Doting Carrie Johnson, 34, walked out with her husband and smiled at him before stepping aside for him to address the country.
Boris then rejoined her after his speech and they held hands again to walk into a Range Rover to visit the Queen.
He shook hands with an applauding crowd of colleagues and staff while Carrie hugged and blew kisses before they left Downing Street for the final time.
Sister Rachel Johnson, 57, was among the crowd waiting outside No10 for the outgoing PM this morning, along with loyalist Nadine Dorries.
The Prime Minister told the country "this is it, folks" as he branded himself a "booster rocket that has fulfilled its function".

He said he will offer the new Government his "most fervent support" and vowed the country will come out stronger from tough times ahead.
He added: "But I say to my fellow Conservatives, it's time for politics to be over, folks. It's time to get behind Liz Truss.
"That is what the people of this country wants. That's what they need. And that's what they deserve."
He insisted that if his dog Dilyn and No10 resident cat Larry can get along, then so can Tory MPs.

And he reflected on his legacy, highlighting the Government's record on Brexit, supporting Ukraine and the Covid vaccine rollout.
But in one last dig at mutinous colleagues who dragged him down, Mr Johnson quipped: "The baton will be handed over in what has unexpectedly turned out to be a relay race.
"They changed the rules halfway through. But never mind that now."
Carrie yesterday shared a sweet family tribute yesterday with a picture outside Downing Street with Boris and kids Wilf and Romy.
Mr Johnson will travel to up to the Queen's Scottish estate at Balmoral to visit Her Majesty and officially hand in his resignation.
Yesterday Liz Truss was confirmed as Britain's 56th Prime Minister after winning 81,326 votes from Conservative members.
She vowed to "deliver, deliver, deliver" after beating rival Rishi Sunak's 60,399 votes and will be officially appointed by the Queen today.
Her new cabinet is also expected to be fully unveiled later. It is thought the UK's four great offices of state may not feature a white man for the first time.
Boris loyalists Priti Patel and Nadine Dorries both quit their respective jobs as Home Secretary and Culture Secretary yesterday to return to the backbenches.
Ms Truss is expected to freeze energy bills for homes and businesses in her first major act as Prime Minister.
