Elon Musk hits back at Donald Trump ‘bulls***’ claim over Twitter deal

Elon Musk and former US president Donald Trump have started a Twitter feud over the world's richest man's bid to buy the social media network.

The SpaceX boss appears to cooled his desire to buy Twitter, leading Trump to label him a "bulls*** artist".

Musk originally announced in April that he intended to buy social media network Twitter, but last Friday (July 8) he appeared to scrap the deal, saying: “Twitter breached multiple provisions of the merger agreement."

But Trump, who recently fell off the Forbes 400 list of America’s richest people, described the multi-billionaire as a “bulls*** artist”.

“Elon is not gonna buy Twitter,” he said at a supporter rally in Alaska, saying that he had said that before.

“Well, he might later," said Trump, "who the hell knows what's going to happen? He's got a pretty rotten contract… elegant… his contract, not a good contract."

Trump said that one of the highest priorities of a Republican Congress “will be to stop left wing censorship and to restore free speech in America”.

But in response Musk said although he “didn’t hate” Trump thought it was time for the former president to “hang up his hat and sail into the sunset”.

When one Twitter user asked Musk what he didn’t like about Trump as a president, he quipped “too much drama,” adding: “Do you really want a bull in a China shop situation every single day?”

But it was a mistake for Trump’s enemies to push him into a corner according to Musk. “Democrats should also call off the attack,” he said.

“Don’t make it so that Trump’s only way to survive is to regain the presidency.”

Musk said that, for one thing, Trump was too old to be president again. The former Apprentice host, who is 76, would be 82 by the end of a potential second presidential term.

That’s “too old to be chief executive of anything, let along the United States,” says Musk.
