Police hunt men suspected of attacking emergency workers and assaulting Trafalgar Square passer-by on day Euro 2020 Wembley final descended into violent chaos

Police are hunting a group of men who are suspected of attacking emergency service workers and assaulting a Trafalgar Square passer-by on the day of the Euro 2020 Wembley final. 

Met Police released four photos of the men who they believe are connected to the assaults and have urged anyone who recognises them to come forward. 

The public can contact officers by calling 101 and quoting CAD 3224/23Sep or by phoning Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if they want to remain anonymous.

The day was tarred by the actions of thugs and hooligans with witnesses describing some of the scenes as ‘terrifying’. 

Before the game England and Italy football fans clashed in Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square and set off fireworks last night as riot police struggled to break up the restless crowds after the Three Lions’ crushing Euros defeat at Wembley.

Meanwhile an England supporting yob was videoed sticking a flare up his backside and snorting cocaine before entering Wembley without a ticket.

A report into the fan trouble at the Euro 2020 final has found 6,000 more supporters were ready to storm Wembley had England beaten Italy in the penalty shootout  


With no police in sight stewards try in vain to force them back but scores barge their way in while footage inside the ground caught some fans hurling punches at one another

Prior to the match British Transport Police – which patrols the country’s rail network – reported ‘multiple cases’ of flares being set off inside London stations. 

Some even climbed on top of a bus outside the grounds, while others outside King’s Cross station in the capital let off red and white smoke during the celebratory build-up.

Later that day more than 1,000 fans broke through the barriers outside Wembley stadium with one of the gates snapping off its hinges. 

Reported an imposter posing as a steward in a high-visibility jacket stole the wheelchair of a child from his father and pushed it towards the entrance. 

Stewards were left to try and contain the situation outside and stem the tide of ticketless people getting in while there was no police prescence at the stadium, the Daily Mail reported at the time.

People were still able to gain access to the stadium through broken gates and turnstiles whilst the game was still being played in extra-time too, it is also being claimed.

Police made 86 arrests on the day – including 53 at the national stadium – for a string of offences including public order offences, ABH, drunk and disorderly and criminal damage.

Meanwhile, F1 driver Lando Norris was ‘left shaken’ after he was mugged for his £40,000 watch after the final.

Following the incident, a McLaren team spokesman said the 21-year-old was ‘understandably shaken’.

The statement said: ‘McLaren Racing can confirm that Lando Norris was involved in an incident, after the Euro 2020 final match at Wembley, during which the watch he was wearing was taken

While England fan behaviour at Wembley has generally been positive throughout the tournament, there were reports of intimidation and aggression following the semi-final against Denmark.
