Fairground ‘shocked’ and ‘saddened’ after boy dies on ‘Body Count’ ride in horror tragedy | The Sun

THE owners of a fairground where a teen boy died on a ride last nightspoke of their "shock" following the tragedy.

Horrified witnesses yesterday told how the teen "slipped and fell" on the Body Count ride at the funfair in the early hours of Wednesday morning.



The ride sees thrill seekers strapped into a chair and swung in a circle before being lifted up into the air.

It is understood that the boy got on the ride while the funfair at Pencester Gardens near Dover was closed on Wednesday.

Last night, funfair owners Forrest Amusements spoke out following the early-morning horror.

A spokesman told Kent Live: "We are deeply shocked and saddened to hear about the tragic incident which occurred at one of our funfair events in Pencester Gardens, Dover.

"Kent Police have confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

"The Health and Safety Executive has attended the scene along with the emergency services."

The fair was due to officially open yesterday at 12pm.

One member of staff told The Sun: "It must have been in the early hours.

"When all the workers woke up, police and the fire service were already here."

A devastated local added: "It’s absolutely horrific. My heart breaks for his friends and family – that’s no age to die."

Paramedics that specialise in industrial accidents rushed to the fairground shortly before 8am on Wednesday morning.

They battled to save the boy, but he sadly died at the scene.

Workers are understood to have set up the rides on Tuesday and had planned to officially open the funfair one day later.

A Kent Police spokesman yesterday said: "Kent Police was called by South East Coast Ambulance Service to Pencester Gardens, Dover at 7.45am on Wednesday 3 August 2022.

"No suspicious circumstances have been reported, and the Health and Safety Executive have been informed."
