Five signs Meghan is NOT comfortable around Kate & William | The Sun

MEGHAN Markle is NOT comfortable around Kate and William despite the Fab Four's united front, a body language expert has revealed.

The Prince of Wales, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex met with well-wishers on Saturday evening as they viewed the thousands of touching floral tributes left for The Queen.

The four royals chatted and shook hands with members of the public at Windsor's Long Walk as hundreds gathered to pay their respects to Her Majesty.

But body language expert Judi James says that despite efforts to put forward a united front amid a gaping rift between the couples – five signs displayed by Meghan suggest all is not quite as it seems.

Ms James told The Sun the first red flag is how Meghan has her hands clasped on waist in a "barrier gesture".

She explained: "From the moment she stepped out of the car and paused on the spot with her hands clasped to her waist in a subtle barrier gesture…

"Watching while Kate strode across to stand with William and Harry, Meghan's body language suggested levels of suppressed awkwardness."

The expert also fears this is a sign of wariness combined with a desire to support and console her husband Harry.

It comes as…

  • William & Harry could walk side by side behind the Queen’s coffin at her funeral
  • Princess Anne curtsied to her beloved mum as Her Majesty's coffin left Balmoral for the final time
  • Thousands left flowers outside royal residences across the country
  • King Charles III was proclaimed as King across Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland
  • King Charles' relentless schedule was revealed – where he always skips one meal a day
  • Details of The Queen's sombre final journey back to London emerged
  • A new Bank Holiday to mark The Queen's funeral on September 19 was established

A second concerning sign was William extending his arm to bring Meghan forward and introduce her to their host as they arrived to meet the public.

This was a warm gesture from the Prince of Wales, Ms James suggested, as it showed William wanting to Meghan welcome Meghan into the fold.

She holds back initially, separate from the other three royals.

But Meghan steps forward, then does the "unusual" gesture of instigating a handshake rather than responding to hands already offered by the host.

This is followed by Harry placing his hand around his wife's waist, which Ms James says is giving "signals of reassurance and support".

Signs of discomfort continued when Meghan could be seen holding hands with Harry as the four moved to greet the public.

Ms James said "Once the couple were able to hold hands and fall back slightly for the walk she looked more assured.

A fourth giveaway suggesting Meghan's discomfort is her "frequent and rather emphatic hair-flicking rituals" as she read floral tributes.

Ms James explained: "Some of this was practical, thanks to the leaning and bending, but some looked like self-reassuring, self-motivational signals that could have been more about bravado."

Meghan's discomfort was counter-balanced by the crowd, however.

Well-wishers at Windsor offered a warmth which created a more relaxed Meghan and Harry – but this was not long lasting.

After doing the rounds, the two couples re-grouped at the end and the the mood changed.

This was evident when the four got into a waiting car to leave.

Ms James said: "As Kate opened her own car door, jumping into the front seat, Meghan paused."

'AWKWARDNESS'

This prompted Harry to open his wife’s door and "steer her into her seat".

It is a sign that "awkwardness returned" when the Sussexes were back in the company of William and Kate.

It comes as King Charles III will lead the Royal Family on foot in a poignant procession behind The Queen's coffin when it travels through Edinburgh today.

Her Majesty will be taken from the Palace of Holyroodhouse to nearby St Giles' Cathedral in a sombre journey to allow the public to pay their respects.

The procession will leave The Palace of Holyrood house at 2.35pm.

King Charles will lead some of the royals on foot, expected to be the Duke of York, Earl of Wessex, Princess Royal and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.

It is unclear whether Princes William and Harry and wives Kate and Meghan Markle will be involved in the procession – but there is speculation they will be part of the cortege.

The feuding brothers are thought to be walking side-by-side on both Wednesday, when their grandmother arrives in London, and next Monday for The Queen's funeral.
