Girl, 2, dies after being electrocuted while left alone overnight

A two-year-old girl’s body was discovered at her home after she was electrocuted to death when her parents left her unsuprvised overnight. An investigation by Argentine police is underway to find out the causes of the accident. The child was left without any supervision in her home in Orán, Salta province, for several hours.

The incident is believed to have occurred around 3pm on Friday afternoon, Losandes reports.

Emergency services were only notified of the child’s death on Saturday when the victim’s mother returned to the location and discovered the child’s body.

Upon discovering the body, she immediately called for help, but emergency personnel were unable to revive the child, who had been dead for some time.

The woman had left the house on Friday morning and returned on Saturday, local police say.

A police statement said: “She had been absent from the house during the day on Friday, around 11, and she returned this Saturday, at which time she discovered the lifeless body of the little girl.”

The Serious Attacks on Persons Unit has since been leading an investigation, carrying out tests to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Police and CIF have also attended the scene of the accident to collect information for the investigation. The woman was reportedly delayed, but it has not been reported whether she was actually detained.

The tragic accident took place a year and a month after Irina a 10-year-old girl who died after climbing a tree and touching a wire fence died after receiving a strong electric shock.

The accident sparked controversy after the police initially claimed the girl had died by falling from a tree and hitting her head. It was later found she died from electrocution.
