I was groped by comedian Harry Enfield at Downing Street – then he made jokes about it, Michael Gove’s ex-wife claims | The Sun

MICHAEL Gove's ex-wife has claimed she was groped by comedian Harry Enfield at a Downing Street party.

Sarah Vine, 56, alleged the comedian "jiggled" her breasts before going on to make jokes about it in a sketch.

She was at a party with Mr Enfield early in David Cameron's premiership when a gay friend made a joke about her low-cut dress, she wrote in her Daily Mail column.

She added: "Everyone laughed — including Enfield, who concurred.

"He then said something along the lines of 'do you mind if I have a go?' before reaching out, grabbing them in both hands and sort of jiggling them around with a vigorous enthusiasm that, I must confess, rather took me and everyone else by surprise."

Sarah said she "wasn't sure what to make of it" but "wasn't particularly upset".

She added: "It wasn't threatening or sinister but it did rather take the wind out of my sails. In the end, I decided to file it under 'someone having a bit of fun at my expense'."

Sarah said Mr Enfield went on to make a joke at her expense during one of his sketches.

In the sketch two old men — played by Mr Enfield and Paul Whitehouse — sit in a gentleman's club discussing Sarah's ex, Michael Gove.

"I met his wife once, she's a fine woman," said Enfield. "I wanted to grope her breasts."

It comes after TV writer Daisy Goodwin claimed she was groped by London mayor hopeful Daniel Korski, 46, at Downing Street.

Ms Goodwin, the creator of ITV hit drama Victoria, said Mr Korski touched her breast back in 2013.

During a visit to No10, Ms Goodwin, 61, was allegedly assaulted in the famous Margaret Thatcher study – something Mr Korski has denied.

Writing in the The Times, Ms Goodwin said: "When we both stood up at the end of the meeting and went to the door, the spad stepped towards me and suddenly put his hand on my breast.

"Astonished, I said loudly, 'Are you really touching my breast?' The spad sprang away from me and I left.

"Although I suppose legally his action could be called sexual assault, I have to say that I did not feel frightened."

She said the behaviour was "so bizarre I couldn't help seeing the humour in it", adding that it was "like I had walked into Carry On Downing Street".

Mr Korski, who was PM David Cameron's special adviser at the time, said he "categorically denied" groping Ms Goodwin a decade ago.
