Road rage killer Kenny Noye has removed the £1.7 million Spanish hideaway he was renting to British holidaymakers from Airbnb – after MailOnline revealed he was making a fortune from it.

The glossy ad promoting the mansion where the career criminal laid low after stabbing 21-year-old Stephen Cameron to death in front of his teenage girlfriend has been pulled from the platform.

It vanished hours after Mail Online published photos of the six-bed villa overlooking a magnificent golden sand beach near the fishing town where he was arrested after an international manhunt and told how Noye, 75, was charging unsuspecting UK tourists up to £13,000 for a two-week stay.

The villa, perched high on a hill overlooking beautiful Atlanterra beach close to the quiet village of Zahara de los Atunes in south-west Spain, is still available for rent on local estate agent-run Spanish websites.

But there was no sign of it on Tuesday on Airbnb, where Noye’s son Brett had identified himself as the host.

There was no sign of it on Tuesday on Airbnb, where Noye’s son Brett had identified himself as the host

An insider said: ‘Owners can pause and remove properties from the site and that’s what appears to have happened in this case.’

We revealed on Sunday Noye was using Brett to rake in thousands of pounds a week from holiday rentals while he tried to find a buyer for his mansion.

The career criminal, whose role helping to launder £26 million in gold bullion following the 1983 Brink’s Mat robbery features in BBC drama The Gold, has it on the market for £1.7 million but has told friends he is understood to be looking to increase the asking price to around £2million

A two-week stay at a similar-sized villa costs between £10,500 and £13,000 in peak season, although Noye’s was showing up as unavailable and presumably fully-booked for July and August.

A week-long stay for four adults and four children at the start of October, the first period available after the summer before it disappeared from Airbnb, was coming in at £2,603 all-in with a long-stay discount and cleaning fee.

Noye reportedly bought the house, which boasts a large pool, six bedrooms and three bathrooms, for just £200,000 cash from a German businessman while he was trying to evade capture over Stephen Cameron’s May 1996 murder.

He pretended to locals at the time he was a wealthy semi-retired builder called Micky and used the alias Michael Mayne.

While Noye was in jail for murder, the villa was looked after by his two sons who spent around £150,000 on renovations 

Most of the reviews left by the villa’s guests were positive, although some complained it was poorly maintained 

The home has six bedrooms and three bathrooms as well as parking space for up to six cars

The villa, described as being in an ‘unbeatable location’ by one guest, looked empty when MailOnline visited it this week

Noye was arrested at a famed fish restaurant called El Campero in Barbate a 20-minute drive away from the hideaway in August 1997 and extradited back to the UK to face justice.

The father-of-two is now back on the streets after serving 21 years in jail for Stephen’s fatal stabbing.

Danielle Cable, who witnessed the horror crime aged just 17 and helped identify her boyfriend’s killer after being taken to Spain by British detectives ahead of his arrest, is still in witness protection.

Police suspect Noye bought the villa he is now trying to sell with some of the proceeds of the Brink’s Mat robbery. They are thought to have been unable to seize the property, described on Airbnb as a ‘private family villa with spectacular sea views’ under the Proceeds of Crime Act because it was outside their jurisdiction.

A well-placed source told MailOnline before the property disappeared from Airbnb: ‘Kenny Noye’s son Brett presents himself as the owner. However, he tells those close to him his dad is the real owner but can’t appear to have any links to the house because of who he is.’

Noye arranged in the 1980s for most of the gold bars stolen in the infamous Brink’s Mat robbery to be melted down and sold.

An armed gang had stolen £26million worth of gold, diamonds and cash from a warehouse at the Heathrow International Trading Estate.

The heist has now been turned into a BBC drama called The Gold starring Hugh Bonneville, Dominic Cooper, Charlotte Spencer and Jack Lowden as Noye.

Between the robbery and the Stephen Cameron murder on the M25 Swanley interchange in Kent, Noye killed a police officer by stabbing him 10 times when he found him hiding in the grounds of his Kent estate.

He and Brian Reader, later the mastermind of the Hatton Garden robbery, were charged with murder but acquitted by an Old Bailey jury.

Eleven bullion bars were found at Noye’s home and along with Reader he was convicted in 1986 of handling stolen gold. He was given 14 years and fined £500,000 and £200,000 costs.
